Registration For Fall 2014/Spring 2015 Is Coming Soon!

Updated Tuesday May 6, 2014 by Amherst Youth Soccer Association.

As we rapidly reach the midpoint of the Spring 2014 season, preparations are already underway for Fall 2014/Spring 2015.  This is always a busy time - for AYSA and parents alike - so we put together this quick 'What's New' to inform parents what is on tap in Amherst Youth Soccer!

On-line Registration will soon be open for our upcoming fall season!  Players aged U8-U14 MUST  be registered by June 14th to be eligible for team placement. Player fees for the 2014-15 season are $130, payable at time of on-line registration by credit/debit card.  If a player is not registered by June 14th team placement cannot be guaranteed. After this date teams will be filled on first come first served basis.

This fall, AYSA will be debuting our standardized Amherst Uniforms(pictured). All teams will be wearing our new locally produced uniform which will consist of one green jersey, one white jersey, shorts, and two pairs of socks.

The advantages to families purchasing their player uniforms through AYSA include, a soft sleek feel, stylish design (with last names)  in Amherst colors, a uniform look throughout the program, and the convenience of playing for new teams without needing to purchase new gear. The one-time fee for the package is $90 and the player will only need to purchase a new set when the uniform is out-grown, lost, or damaged.

If a player is registered ON-LINE by June 1st, the cost of the uniform set may be paid June 14th by a pre-authorized debit transaction.  Any IN-PERSON registration for the fall season must be accompanied by a check for the registration fee, cost of uniform, plus a $10 convenience fee.

Evaluations for current U8-U11 players will be held at DePaola Park June 14th and 22nd. Schedules vary by date, please refer to Evaluation Schedule for details. The purpose of evaluations is to identify players who are qualified to play for the Select Team (A team). Evaluations are not mandatory, however it is a great opportunity for a player to compete with their peers and receive feedback regarding their progress.

Attendance at ONE evaluation is required to be considered for the Select Team. Players who wish to qualify for the Select Team but are unable to attend one evaluation session MUST make special arrangements with league director.

All players in age groups who are moving to larger roster sizes (U11, U13) are encouraged to attend one evaluation. The Evaluation Committee will use this data to place players onto consolidated teams.

Beginning in the fall season, all AYSA teams will be competing in the American Amateur Soccer League(AASL). This soccer league provides opportunity for teams of all skill level, both boys and girls, to compete against similarly skilled teams. The format consists of two seasons of eight games, four home and four away. Generally opponents are centered in Lorain County or the western suburbs of Cleveland. Most games are played on SUNDAYS, with possible weeknight games, and occasional travel to south or east Cleveland.
